After spending much of her childhood in New Mexico, Dr. Sandya Athigaman studied Biomedical Sciences and Traditional Art at Texas A&M University in College Station before attending Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Her special interest in public health continues through her commitment at two Federally Qualified Health Centers, where she helps expand access for patients facing barriers to dental care.
Dr. Athigaman’s path to dentistry brings together her interests in biomedical science, service, and hands-on art. She sees oral health as an essential part of overall health and happiness, and finds meaning in connecting with her neighbors, relieving discomfort, and helping patients regain confidence. She also stays engaged by attending dental conferences, developing her knowledge and skills, and connecting with colleagues who share her interests.
Outside the office, Dr. Athigaman supports local nonprofits through the Mile High Professionals Philanthropy Committee and performs with a cultural dance team across the Denver metro area. She also enjoys reading, drawing, gardening, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband, cat, and dog.
